The Crimson Tide continue to exert a stranglehold on the top spot, resisting a charge from Boise State and LSU. Oklahoma and Stanford both improved their expected winning percentage over last week, but as the Cardinal held the Buffaloes to fewer points than the Longhorns the computer gives them a slightly better bump. Wisconsin treads water on an off week, while Oregon pushes up slightly thanks to a victory over Cal.

The Gators and the Buckeyes both lose ground after losses to LSU and Nebraska, respectively, but no one was able to gain enough ground to displace them from the top 10. Another good week by Arkansas and Notre Dame, though, and both teams will be out of the top 10. At this point, though, ranks 10 through 23 are separated by approximately 0.050, so even garbage time field goals can hurt or help a team by several places.

This Friday we'll take another look at the prospects of the remaining undefeated teams, but it's effectively become a six-horse race between Alabama, Boise, LSU, Stanford, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Stay tuned.
